The Assyrian Star Drama Group is proud to present "Midreh Miree Mirookh". Fred Youhaneh writer & Artistic Director, has been in theater for more than 35 years and has had many successful performances in Iran, Los Angeles, Turlock, And San Jose CA.

"Over seven thousand years ago, before it was called Iraq, before it was called Persia, before the writing of the Old Testament, before the age of the Pharaohs, ..Assyria was that land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers; home to the hated King Gilgamesh. Thru thousands of years, GILGAMESH has endured as the oldest and most revolutionary work of literature known to mankind.

A poetry recitation program was organized by the Association. The participating poets were Ninos Aho and Yosip Bet Yosip. Poetry has played an important role in the literary life of all nations. Some of the most famous ancient epics such as the Mesopotamian Gilgamesh, the Greek's the Odyssey and the Iliad, the Persian Shahnameh and the Assyrian Gattina Gabara were told in verse. For the Assyrians who are mostly uneducated in their own language Assyrian poetry provides an opportunity to learn about their own literature.
