A poetry recitation program was organized by the Association.
The participating poets were Ninos Aho and Yosip Bet
Yosip. Poetry has played an important role in the literary life of all
nations. Some of the most famous ancient epics such as the Mesopotamian
Gilgamesh, the Greek's the Odyssey and the Iliad, the Persian Shahnameh and the
Assyrian Gattina Gabara were told in verse. For the Assyrians who are mostly
uneducated in their own language Assyrian poetry provides an opportunity to
learn about their own literature. |
